The nation is divided once again

Committing an act that has divided public opinion for years, Lee from Gogglebox has left some viewers sickened as he was seen dunking his toast in his cup of tea.

Fans of the TV show were left debating whether or not it was the act of a 'heathen' after Friday's episode.

Lee Riley was watching telly, as is the nature of the show, with his best mate Jenny Newby. While they were chatting, he dunked his piece of toast straight into his cup of tea.

Jenny, horrified, said: "Do you have to do that? You're disgusting, you!"

But it's not quite as cut and dried as that, Jenny, because the nation is divided on whether toast should be enjoyed as an entity of its own, or whether it can also double up as a dipping instrument, much like a big buttery biscuit.

Some viewers were in shock, branding Lee's love of tea and toast at the same time 'wrong':

But of course, plenty of other people were on hand to leap to his defence.

One particular Twitter user, whose identity we'll hide for their own good, went one step further. Not only did they agree it was fine, but they also added: "Especially with jam on!"

I have no words.

The stars of the Channel 4 show have come under fire lately, having to defend themselves when concerned viewers accused them of not following social distancing rules.

As we are all well aware, the government put strict lockdown measures in place in March, but viewers were left confused as to how filming was able to continue on the show, with complaints being made to independent body Ofcom.

Channel 4 dispelled concerns, however, by confirming most of the groups live together.

The Malone family also confirmed their situation in a tweet which read: "Just going to put this out there so we are all up to date, I know the social distancing rules too, I love my grandkids, I would never put them or anyone else's health in danger.

"My daughter and her children live with us, so she can go to work as a nurse."
