Hilarious Moment Kid Interrupts Mum Live On Sky News To Ask For Biscuits

The dangers of working from home

An adorable kid has reminded us all about the perils of video chats while working from home by bursting in on his mum during a Sky News interview to ask for biscuits.

While mum and Sky News foreign affairs editor Deborah Haynes tried to do a serious interview with Mark Austin, her young son had a much more important question, bursting in to the room to enquire about biscuits.

In the clip, Haynes can be heard saying: "David Cameron was talking about... Oh I'm really sorry, that's my son arriving, really embarrassed, sorry," as the door swung open behind her and the little lad walked over to his mum.

She told him: "One second," before turning to the camera and saying: "Sorry!"

He then tapped his mum and asked: "Can I have two biscuits?" to which his mum replied: "Yes, you can have two biscuits. Really sorry about that."

At that point, the camera cut back to the studio with Austin saying: "We'll leave Deborah Haynes there, in full flow with some family duties."

To be fair to him, the youngster has played a blinder there - he quickly realised his mum would do anything to keep him quiet and managed to barter himself two biscuits. Clever kid. I hope he enjoyed those well-earned biccies.

Viewers loved the unexpected interruption, with one person writing: "It's always OK to ask for a biscuit even when your mum is live on Sky News. Love the way she said yes very calmly! Mum goals right there."

Another person wrote: "This chap deserves three biscuits after these scenes on Sky News. Heck, give him the entire packet." I agree.

While others criticised the decision to cut Haynes off when she clearly had Biscuit Gate all sorted. One viewer asked: "Why don't Sky News handle random children entering the room as well as the BBC?! Why cut away - we all live for kids repositioning photo frames and asking for biscuits on the telly?! We need this content after lockdown!"

While someone else chipped in: "She had the biscuit situation under control Sky News. Very rude that you cut her off like that."

Even Piers Morgan got involved, asking: "Why did you cut away @markaustintv - this was by far the best TV you've anchored for months... and @haynesdeborah was handling things with hilarious aplomb."
