You would think that ever since bursting onto our screens in the Halifax adverts, Howard Brown would be spoilt for choice in the ladies department. However, it would seem 20 years on from his telly debut, his opportunities have dried up a bit. Howard rocked up on First Dates last night (Thursday) looking for someone who isn't 'intimidated' by his fame.

The 53-year-old - who appeared on The Office Christmas special back in his heyday - turned a few heads as he entered the First Dates restaurant, with staff seemingly recognising him.

However, his date Bev didn't have a clue who he was - so there was no chance of her being too overawed by his fame at least.

Indeed, viewers at home seemed much more excited to see him:

But did Bev fall head over heels for Howard? Did he give her extra? Or did too many terms and conditions apply?

Well, I'm sorry to report that Bev didn't fancy opening an account with Howard, and now some fans are pleading for the show to help find him love.

As well as his famous series of Halifax adverts, Howard released a charity cover of Barry White's 'You're The First, My Last, My Everything' in 2005, which peaked at number 13 in the UK singles chart.

From 2008, he no longer appeared in Halifax adverts and he left the company in 2011.

He reemerged out of nowhere last year alongside boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, calling for a fight between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua. Unlike Bev, Eddie was seemingly starstruck.

He said: "I've met some big stars - Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Pele - in all honest, Howard is the first person I've gone over to and asked for a picture."
