Filming for I'm A Celebrity has started and apparently the first task is the most scary and dangerous so far.

After the contestants - who have been split off into pairs - were seen taking of in helicopters at Surfers' Paradise on Gold Coast before landing in a field near to the Versace Hotel.

They were then seen near the 343 feet high Focus building where they were challenged to walk across tiny planks - enough to give anyone jelly legs.

Seen wearing different coloured clothing, the teams were spotted trying to make it across - some seemed to fare better than others.

As seen in the first episode are Ian Wright and Jacqueline Jossa - who wore green, Kate Garraway and Andrew Maxwell on team blue, James Haskell and Caitlyn Jenner in red, Roman Kemp and Myles Stephenson repping the purple team and Adele Roberts and Nadine Coyle who were in yellow.

Earlier in the day Ant and Dec made their entrance on a speedboat for a swimming race.

No stranger to an incredible opening scene to kick off the series, it looks like this year will also not disappoint.

Speaking to Mirror Online earlier this week, producer of the series, Olly Nash said: "This is I'm A Celebrity and the contestants are going to have to be braver than ever.

"The walk in itself will see us return to the plank at the Focus building. It's the biggest and most horrendous, wobbliest thing. We tested it earlier in August and we made it deliberately more wobbly.

"They will be playing with another celebrity, so the more they wobble, the more you wobble. You are totally dependent on someone else. It's 343 ft up, four metres out, then three metres down, then a metre out again.

"You have to go down a ladder. We've tested it and during the runs, getting to the end then turning around is absolutely horrendous. The worst part of it is you have to go a metre out at the bottom and effectively stand on one foot to press the switch. You're balancing on one foot.

"It's absolutely terrifying. I find it hard just looking over the edge. It's totally down to how brave you are. They play in twos, in pairs.

"They will all end up in camp, luxury for us is living in the main camp and getting a bed and food and a fire. The other camp is on the floor eating rice and beans.

"It'll be two camps. It's survival of the bravest. The bravest will win out. You've got to hold your nerve."

I'm A Celebrity starts at 9pm on Sunday night on ITV.
