It seems as though the upcoming fifth Purge movie has wrapped on filming and will be called The Forever Purge.

The Hollywood Reporter seemingly revealed the title of the new flick in a feature about social distancing in the film industry, in which it wrote that series producer Jason Blum was at home 'prepping' several projects 'including feature film The Forever Purge'.

The new movie is scheduled to be released on 10 July, but this could yet be put back due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which is impacting both the production and release date of numerous films and TV shows.

However, although not confirmed at this point, it seems as though the film may have wrapped before the coronavirus hit if producer Blum is 'prepping' it already.

According to an earlier report in The Hollywood Reporter, the new movie will 'take Purge out of its usual metropolitan setting while still dealing with class and race issues in the way the previous films have'. Sounds interesting.

As yet, plot details are strictly under wraps but what we do know is that James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the first four movies, is at the helm.

DeMonaco has previously said the fifth film will likely be the last.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the fifth movie in 2018, he said: "I have it in my head. I think I'm going to write it. I think it's a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I'm very excited.

"When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home."

The Purge franchise, which consists of four movies (with one more on the way) and a series, has pulled in $458 million (£367,087,000) at the global box office.

And it was actually the most recently released movie, The First Purge, which pulled in the most box office money - showing that the franchise's popularity is not waning.

The fifth Purge movie is due to hit cinemas on 10 July 2020.
