James Corden has responded to incredulous fans after it was revealed he doesn't actually drive the car when filming the Carpool Karaoke segment of The Late Late Show.

With fans voicing their feelings of betrayal across the internet, Corden offered a cheeky comeback, enlisting the help of Samuel L Jackson.

He posted a snap to Twitter which showed the pair perching on stools and wearing wigs - a clear nod to Jackson's famous Pulp Fiction scenes.

Corden captioned the photo: "Guys, we don't even use a real car."

Well, I never.

But people are still not having any of it.

One person replied: "No way! I KNEW IT! Next thing you know you're gonna tell me it's not the actual artists!"

Another said: "This shattered my dreams. It brought me flashbacks of when I was told that Santa was not real #deceived"

A third commented: "Next thing you're gonna tell us that it isn't actually you but your secret twin who has been doing the Carpool Karaoke."

News that the presenter doesn't actually seem to drive the car broke on Wednesday, when a fan saw the star recording an episode with Justin Bieber in LA. The pair were filmed with the car being towed around during filming for the popular Late Late Show segment.

A video of this was then posted to Twitter, with the footage showing a Range Rover mounted on an additional set of wheels, being towed by a truck.

Replying to the initial video - which was posted by Twitter user Zoli Honig - fans expressed their outrage (we're sure they were only joking).

Zoli wrote: "Saw James Corden and Justin Bieber filming carpool karaoke and this is why I have trust issues - he isn't even driving! Next thing you know they gonna tell us that his friends don't *actually* need a ride."

In response, someone said: "MY WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE," while another clearly agreed, saying: "Lol my life was a lie. I thought he drivessss."

Realistically, have these people actually seen Carpool Karaoke? His eyes are hardly on the road.

Not everything is always as it seems, LADs.
