Jamie Foxx is in talks to return as Electro in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, according to Variety.

The actor played the villain in 2014 film The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a previous franchise that starred Andrew Garfield as the titular web-slinger.

According to the entertainment outlet, Foxx is now in 'final talks' to return to the role, this time for the third instalment of the latest reboot of the superhero series, which stars Tom Holland as Spidey.

Currently being made by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, movie three sees Jon Watts - the filmmaker behind Homecoming and last year's Spider-Man: Far From Home - in the director's chair, while Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing.

Variety reports that 'most of the supporting cast' from the previous films, including Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori, are also expected to feature, with cameras due to start rolling in Atlanta this autumn.

Sony originally dated its release for 5 November 2021, though with a pandemic on our hands this was pushed back to 17 December 2021. Given how things are at the moment, it's hard to say whether or not the film will face any further delays.
