What started out as a usually chirpy and cheerful episode of Celebrity Great British Bake Off turned quickly sour this week when one of the celebs, YouTuber and Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Sugg, required serious medical treatment after slicing the top off his finger.

Ouch. That's got to be a sore one.

Medical staff rushed to Sugg's aid in the tent when an accident occurred as he was making a tray bake.

Sugg, for his part, actually seemed to deal pretty well with the situation at first, but then became queasy and faint as a result of losing quite a bit of blood.

He decided to take a bit of a breather, but was eventually overcome and passed out, much to the horror of his fellow contestants and the crew, who rushed onto the set in order to assist him.

It got worse, quite quickly.

In the episode, which will air on Channel 4 at 8pm on Tuesday 31 March, Joe can be seen receiving help from a paramedic as he lies unconscious on the floor.

It's high drama, that's for sure.

Sugg wasn't the only celebrity to get on the wrong side of their cooking equipment in the show, either.

Fellow contestant Alex Jones - of The One Show fame - didn't properly lock in the mixing bowl before using an electric food processor and caused the bowl to explode, sending a whole heap of glass into her hand.

That meant that the Welsh BBC TV presenter had to receive stitches on the set in order to complete the challenge.

You've got to hand it to her, she was absolutely determined to finish off her dessert and even agreed to have her hand stitched up without any anaesthetic to get the job done.

Speaking about the incident, Jones explained: "They had these fancy electric mixers, where you attach the glass bowl, put the whisk in and press go.

"It turns out my bowl wasn't attached and the moment the blade hit it, the bowl shattered into 1,000 pieces.

"I'm saying 'I'm absolutely fine' before realising there's a massive shard of glass sticking out of my hand. I had to go straight off to the paramedic for stitches.

"He said, 'I'm just going to put in the anaesthetic' and I was like, 'No, there's no time for that, I have a showstopper to make, just do it!'"

The show airs on Channel 4 at 8pm on Tuesday.
