Macaulay Culkin is going to star in the 10th season of American Horror Story, the show's co-creator Ryan Murphy has revealed. Here's a little teaser video Murphy created confirming the cast additions.

Murphy, who has been one of the main creative forces behind the FX horror series alongside co-creator Brad Falchuk, shared a post on Instagram revealing Culkin would take up his first regular role on a TV show.

Alongside him, there will be returns for popular cast members such as Kathy Bates, Finn Wittrock, Billie Lourd, Lily Rabe, Adina Porter, Leslie Grossman and Angelica Ross.

Franchise regulars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be back, too, despite sitting out the last season.

The AHS boss shared the good news on Instagram by sharing a video that appears to be the opening titles for this season. In that video, the list of cast members was revealed.

The show is the biggest show FX has by some distance. That success has been rewarded recently with a three season renewal which will take the show to a 13th - unlucky for some - season, at the very least.

John Landgraf, the chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions, announced the news in a statement earlier this year.

Culkin will be back behind a bigger camera this year.

He said: "Ryan and Brad are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX's highest-rated series,

"We are grateful to them and Dana Walden and our studio partners for committing to another three years.

"AHS has showcased a wealth of award-winning actors since day one and we appreciate the contributions of everyone, including Ryan, Brad and fellow executive producers Tim Minear, James Wong, Alexis Martin Woodall and Bradley Buecker, the writers, directors, cast and crew for each new, unforgettable instalment of American Horror Story."

As for Culkin, he recently gave a rare wide-ranging interview to Esquire in which he spoke about his love of acting, but how he'd become somewhat jaded with other aspects of the business.

The Home Alone star explained: "I enjoy acting. I enjoy being on set, I don't enjoy a lot of the other things that come around it.

"What's a good analogy? The Shawshank Redemption. The way he gets out of prison is to crawl through a tube of s***, you know?

"It feels like to get to that kind of freedom, I'd have to crawl through a tube of s***, and you know what? I've built a really nice prison for myself.

"It's soft. It's sweet. It smells nice. You know? It's plush."

American Horror Story season 10 will air later on this year.
