Mark Wahlberg's personal chef has broken down what the actor eats each day as he gains a dramatic amount of weight for a movie role.

We all heard about Marky Mark's routine a while back - it included 90-minute long showers and a whole heap of eating - but what exactly is he eating when he's trying to pack on the mass?

Well, given that Wahlberg teased recently that he's 'up about 20 pounds' and plans on 'going up another 20' we should probably find out.

While the star of The Departed did reveal the weight gain is 'for a role', he didn't reveal what the role is.

However, he did say on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in April that he was planning on playing a fighter who becomes a priest for a new movie called Father Stu, so it's probably to do with that.

Here's Wahlberg before getting started.

He told Kimmel: "After we do the boxing scenes, I get to put on as much weight as possible over the course of the film.

"So I'm challenging myself to put on 30 pounds in the next six weeks."

Anyway, back to the scran.

Wahlberg also told Kimmel that he wanted to gain weight in a way that was healthy, despite the fact that he wants to eat 'everything in sight'.

He said: "Dude, I've been on such a regimen for so long, I just want to eat everything in sight,

"I want to go to bakeries. I want to go to Denny's. I want to get pancakes. I want to get everything that I can possibly get my hands on."

But, his personal chef of several years Lawrence Duran told USA Today that it's not happening on his watch.

He's now put on a load of weight, but healthily.

Duran explained: "This isn't something that we're just going into and we're just eating pizza and pasta and whatnot.

"We've got a whole team that works together, and this is a lot to take on in a short period of time, so we have to make sure that his health is at its best."

Wahlberg is also reportedly having blood work done on the regular, to check that he's keeping healthy in his weight gain.

He's significantly upped his calorie intake, and Duran says he 'looked forward to' the challenge when Mark decided to put weight.

Wahlberg is known for his ridiculous regimes.

He continued: "I actually looked forward to it, because it allowed me the ability to be a little bit more creative with meals.

"I can cook up some comfort food that I know he likes and cook up things that his mom used to make for him as a child, so there's a lot of positivity in him gaining weight for roles."

It also means that Mark can have his favourite chicken pot pie, which Duran described as 'a little bit of that classic comfort with the nice crust on top that he just absolutely loves and indulges at times like these.'

Not gonna lie, it sounds great.
