A mixed martial artist experienced what I'm sure is a worst nightmare situation for many men when his penis snapped during an intimate encounter with his girlfriend:
Ray Elbe - otherwise known as 'Magical Ray' - suffered his most severe injury to date only it wasn't in the cage but in the bedroom.

As he was preparing for a tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he got down to it with his partner which resulted in Little Ray snapping in half.
Describing what happened on Sex Sent Me To The ER Ray said: "We got a little bit intimate in the heat of passion, and she happened to be on top of me in this situation.
"Unfortunately, as she went a little bit too high, I slipped out, and when she came back down I was still obviously fully erect, and basically [she] bent me over the top.
"I remember immediately my erection [shrinking noise] as blood just spurt all over the place. I've had some significant injuries, but as far as the actual pain, and I was in shock at that point, it was brutal."

Bet he wasn't feeling so magical after that.
Ray ran to the bathroom where he suddenly started to feel light-headed and passed out, cracking the bottom of his jaw.
As things couldn't possibly get any worse, his girlfriend called for an ambulance and Ray was rushed in to hospital with a fractured member.

He went on to say: "Man, it brings tears to your eyes. I don't care who you are or how tough you are as an individual, it was just a humbling experience.
"The penis is made up of tissue that is very spongy, and when the penis is getting erect, what happens is that tissue fills with blood." Yikes.
Ray had to undergo a 12 hour operation and speaking about the injury, Emergency Physician Dr Jordan Moskoff said: "In the course of sexual activity, if the penis misses where it's supposed to go and jams, you can actually break that spongy tissue."

Talking about the surgery, Ray said: "Essentially, what he did was he cut and peeled the skin down, and went into the two tubes and stitched them back together.
"I woke up medicated, and literally my testicles were the size of two softballs because all the blood drained down in there. It was black and blue."
Luckily after eight or so weeks, Ray was back up and running, both professionally and *ahem* personally.
Sex Sent Me To The ER airs at 11pm on Thursdays exclusively on TLC.
