Get excited, Avengers fans - Marvel has officially released the first teaser trailer for new movie Black Widow and confirmed it will be released on 1 May 2020. Watch it below:

It was first reported that production had started on the Avengers spin-off back in February and it supposedly wrapped up in the summer.

Naturally, Scarlett Johansson will be donning the jumpsuit once more to play the lead role.

Although not much has been given away about the storyline, we do know it will be directed by Cate Shortland, best known for the 2017 movie Berlin Syndrome, with the screenplay written by Jac Schaeffer, co-writer of 2019's The Hustle and - of course - Captain Marvel.

As well as being aimed at longtime followers of the Marvel comics, so far the studio's films have been tailored towards a younger audience, but reports suggest this could all be about to change with Black Widow potentially being the studio's first R-rated movie in the US (i.e. it can only be watched in cinemas by people younger than 17 if they are with an adult).

So what can we expect from the movie? Well, Black Widow - aka Natasha Romanova - was given to the KGB at birth, and was groomed and conditioned into becoming its ultimate agent.

But following the break-up of the USSR, the government tried to killer her off, leading her to become a freelance operative in present-day New York. This standalone film will find her living in the US 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union, and at some point you'd have to imagine we're going to learn about her involvement with Nick Fury's S.H.I.E.L.D. organisation.

Alongside Scarlett, Robert Downey Jr is rumoured to return as Iron Man/Tony Stark, and it looks like the world's tallest bodybuilder will also be joining the cast.

Olivier Richters - who, standing at an incredible 7ft 2in, is also nicknamed the 'Dutch Giant' - only made his break into cinema fairly recently.

While he's previously had a couple of small film and TV credits, it wasn't until this year that his big break came, having joined the cast of The King's Man, which hits cinemas in 2020.

But in an even more impressive move, the Dutch strongman has also now joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having shared the huge news on Instagram, where he wrote: "I can finally tell you guys! For the last 3 weeks, I have been in the UK filming my part for the movie: Black Widow (Marvel Studios).

"This year in January, for the first time in my life I started to join castings for movies, who would have thought that I got to start with The King's Man, then onto Gangs of London (HBO) and now Black Widow (Marvel).

"If someone in 2018 told me my career in the movie industry would start like this, I would have called an ambulance for him.

"It has always been my dream to do something with my size. Can't wait for all the releases in 2020."
