Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne has said he would 'love' to do more episodes - are you listening Ruth Jones and James Corden?

In an interview with PA about the possibility of more episodes, the star said: "I don't know, you would have to ask the people who write it. It would be lovely, yeah.

"Considering the experience I had back in August, filming it, I would love to get together again with everybody because, it sounds really trite, but it was just like putting on a pair of slippers and sitting with your family.

"It was just delightful, so of course I would love to do more, but it's not really up to me."

If you wasn't already hyped for the episode, Horne added: "I am very very proud of it, I would go as far as to say I think it's the best episode of the show we have ever done." Exciting stuff.

Horne went on to say that, much like the rest of the nation, he would be tuning in on Christmas Day to watch the one-off episode, even though he doesn't usually bother checking himself out on the small screen.

"I think I will watch on Christmas Day," he said. " As time has gone on in my career I less and less watch of myself because I can't bear looking at the passage of time, if I can be so existential, but I really wanted to see this and I'm really happy with it.

"So, I think I will be watching it, there is not much else to do. I don't know what the other channels are going to be showing but it would certainly seem silly to watch something else."

Silly indeed, mate - some of us have been waiting the best part of a decade for this.

Earlier this month, co-star Alison Steadman told OK! magazine that meeting up with all the cast had been like a 'family reunion'.

She told the magazine: "It was brilliant. It was so good to be back on Barry Island! I really was quite nervous about it because expectations are so high.

"I thought, 'Can I do it again? Can I get the character back properly?' But as soon as we were all back together it was just like a family reunion. At the end we were all really sad to say goodbye."

Last night, the BBC treated us to the very first glimpse of the new episode, which will see a very welcome return for original cast members Horn, Corden, Joanna Page, Jones, Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb, Melanie Walters and Steadman.

The first-look shows a stressed out Uncle Bryn (Brydon) attempting to make Christmas dinner, but hitting a bit of snag when he drops half of it on the floor.

The Gavin and Stacey Christmas special will air on BBC1 on Christmas Day.
