Matthew Perry has revealed he thought he was 'going to die' if people didn't laugh at his jokes while filming Friends, saying he would 'freak out' and 'go into convulsions'.

Perry, 51, shocked his former castmates with the confession during the Friends reunion show, which landed earlier today.

The actor spoke about how he often struggled when delivering his lines in the studio.

He said: "At least to me, I felt like I was going to die if they didn't laugh."

Perry continued: "It's not healthy for sure but I would sometimes say a line and they wouldn't laugh and I would sweat and just go into convulsions if I didn't get the laugh I was supposed to get. I would freak out."

His former colleagues were clearly shocked by his admission, with Lisa Kudrow saying to him: "You didn't tell us that.

"I don't remember you ever saying that."

Perry replied: "Oh yeah, I felt like that every single night."

Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, meanwhile, shared their own anecdote from their Friends days, saying they had 'crushes' on each other while filming the show.

Interviewing the cast, special guest James Corden asked: "Will you allow me to ask what I would consider a cheeky question? It's hard not to recognise that you're all young, hot, good-looking successful actors.

"It's inconceivable to me that there weren't perhaps off screen romances."

Aniston slyly responded: "Well... I mean... David... the first season."

Replying to his co-star, Schwimmer said: "The first season... we... I had a major crush on Jen."

Aniston then confirmed: "It was reciprocated."

The pair even said they came close to an offscreen relationship, but tragically it was not to be.

Schwimmer then went on to say: "At some point we were both crushing hard on each other. But it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary and we both respected that."

Matt LeBlanc then interjected, claiming that was 'bulls***'.

After the crowd and cast stopped laughing at LeBlanc's joke, Aniston continued: "I remember saying to David 'it's gonna be really such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is gonna be on national television' and sure enough the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop.

"We just channelled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel."

The Friends: The Reunion is now available to watch on Sky and NOW TV.
