MMA Fighter Kicked Off Romanian TV Show After Breaking Contestant's Nose With Headbutt

The incident certainly makes the altercations on Love Island seem pretty tame

An MMA fighter has been kicked off a Romanian TV show after she headbutted a fellow contestant and broke his nose.

Ana Maria Pal had narrowly lost a challenge on Survivor Romania when Andrei Ciobanu, a member of the rival team, said: "It's hard Ana, it's hard."

Clearly, the 26-year-old didn't take kindly to the remark, lashing out at him with a ball in her hand. The pair then squared up briefly, before Ana planted a ferocious headbutt on Andrei, who grabbed his nose before collapsing to the ground as Ana trudged off.

Ana - who has won two and lost three professional fights, according to Tapology - went on to claim that Andrei 'deserved' the headbutt and she was immediately kicked off the show, which is being filmed in the Dominican Republic.

The assault broke Andrei's nose, according to The Daily Mail, and he has condemned Ana's behaviour in a post on Instagram.

He said: "For those who support Ana's behaviour... ask the following question: If your mother yelled at your father and for that, he received a punch in front, is it fair that he deserved it?"

Diana Belbita, another MMA fighter who has previously appeared on the show, also criticised Ana for the attack.

Posting on Instagram, she said: "I cannot agree with the gesture tonight of Ana Maria Pal. It is not a typical gesture for performance fighters and I would like to avoid generalising.

"If Ana made this gesture, she's the only one who takes it... This is not a typical gesture for a fighter, Ana Maria is the only one who assumes the consequences."

Andrei was left clutching his nose in a heap on the floor.

The show's presenter, Dan Cruceru, described the headbutt as a 'shocking gesture' - at least that's how Google translates his comments anyway.

According to CanCan, he said: "I saw a terrible moment, a shocking moment. I saw a competitor hit in the face by another competitor.

"Unfortunately, Ana Pal lost her temper. What Ana did was a shocking gesture, a gesture that we hoped we would not see.

"We will not tolerate such behaviour in Survivor, and our decision was that Ana Pal should not return to the island."
