Steve Coogan has been spotted once again filming in character as Jimmy Savile for new BBC drama The Reckoning.

The 56-year-old actor has been shooting new scenes for the upcoming show with the signature blonde hairdo and heading to a nightclub in Manchester.

Coogan was also sporting a tweed jacket with a white shirt which had been paired with a dark red tie and trousers, to portray the late paedophile DJ.

The on-set photograph shows him climbing in to a Rolls Royce as he interprets the extravagant lifestyle adopted by Savile.

The comedian will take on the role which is set to explore Savile's rise in the entertainment world as one of the BBC's most popular television presenters as well as the sexual abuse allegations that came out after he died in 2011 aged 84.

Speaking previously about the role, the Alan Partridge star said it wasn't a decision he had put little thought into.

He said: "To play Jimmy Savile was not a decision I took lightly.

"Neil McKay has written an intelligent script tackling sensitively a horrific story which, however harrowing, needs to be told."

Savile's crimes only came to light after his death, when hundreds of survivors bravely stepped forward and shared their stories about the abuse they suffered at his hands.

And when the mini-series was announced, there were some concerns raised as to whether it was in poor taste to dramatise the heinous acts of the dead TV presenter.

However, according to the BBC, the series has been made with 'sensitivity and respect', and director Sandra Goldbacher explained in more detail: "The Reckoning is a unique opportunity to give Savile's survivors, the people who inspired this project, a voice.

"I feel sure that Steve Coogan's powerful performance as Savile will create a debate around how the cult of celebrity cloaked him from scrutiny."

In a statement last year announcing the drama, the BBC said: "Savile, an eccentric showman, the youngest of seven siblings, used his involvement in multiple organisations, such as hospitals, prisons, charities and the BBC, to legitimise himself.

"The drama will explore the way he used smoke and mirrors to conceal his wrongdoings."
