Netflix has revealed which of its shows and movies have racked up the most hours watched for the first time.

To compile the list, the streaming giant clocked up the total view hours in the first 28 days of a new show or movie's release.

It's unlikely any of the titles that appear on the list will be a surprise to you - with popular shows such as Stranger Things and Money Heist popping up - and it's interesting to note that it's not always the first season of a show that is the most-watched.

This list is also missing the wildly popular Squid Game, which is tipped to be the most-watched Netflix show of all time, as it hasn't yet been released for 28 days.

While Netflix has shared top ten lists in the past, it's the first time they've collated one using the number of hours watched, rather than the number of subscribers who have streamed it.

Adam Sandler's Murder Mystery made it into the top ten.

In the past, Netflix's 'most watched' lists were based on the number of accounts that watched at least two minutes of a show or movie, which some people said wasn't a fair representation of if it had actually been watched or just given a quick look before switching off.

This new method appears to give a more accurate representation of what people are watching.

Unveiling the new rankings, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarando said: "We're trying to be more transparent with the market, with the talent, with everybody."
