Netflix has announced it's renewing Cobra Kai for a fourth season, also revealing series three is set to premiere on 8 January 2021.

The series is a spin-off of the highely popular Karate Kid film franchise, with William Zabka and Ralph Macchio reprising their respective roles as Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso.

It takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, with the 'continuation of the inescapable conflict' between the two arch rivals.

Netflix acquired the first two seasons of the show - which originally aired on YouTube Premium (formerly known as YouTube Red) - back in June, and since finding a new home viewers have been loving it.

The synopsis for the third instalment reads: "Season Three finds everyone reeling in the aftermath of the violent high school brawl between their dojos, which has left Miguel in a precarious condition.

"While Daniel searches for answers in his past and Johnny seeks redemption, Kreese further manipulates his vulnerable students with his own vision of dominance. The soul of the Valley is at stake, and the fate of every student and sensei hangs in the balance."

The show's finale ended with Miguel in a bit of a bad way, teasing us the other day with a slightly worrying video looking back on his life.

However, fans were delighted to find hope in the new series three trailer.

"Who else smiled when they saw Miguel's eyes open?" one person commented.

Another wrote: "I KNEW MIGUEL WASN'T DEAD."

Someone else added: "YES! I KNEW MIGUEL WAS GOING TO COME BACK ALIVE! COBRA KAI NEVERS DIES!"

After the new series premieres in January, we'll also have more to come, as Netflix has renewed the show for a fourth outing, saying in a statement: "Netflix has renewed Cobra Kai, the series continuation of the iconic The Karate Kid film franchise from Sony Pictures Television, for a fourth season."

Cobra Kai seasons one and two are available to watch on Netflix now, while season three drops on 8 January 2021.

As for round four, we'll be keeping you posted.
