The French original series, starring Omar Sy, is projected to reach 70 million households in the first 28 days on the service.
The five-part show is a contemporary rereading of the Arsène Lupin series of novels by Maurice Leblanc.
It hones in on Assane Diop (Sy), whose life was turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn't commit. 25 years later, Assane will use 'Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar' as his inspiration to avenge his father.
We won't spoil anything for you, but during the finale for the first season, the closing credits explained to viewers that 'another part is coming'.
According to Screen Rant, the streaming service hasn't set an official release date for the second part, but the publication estimates it will drop the episodes in early summer 2021.
The Netflix original series stars Omar Sy alongside Hervé Pierre (de la Comédie Française), Nicole Garcia (Who You Think I Am), Clotilde Hesme (Chocolat), Ludivine Sagnier (The New Pope), Antoine Gouy (Budapest), Shirine Boutella (Papicha) and Soufiane Guerrab (School lLfe).
The series is created by George Kay (Criminal, Killing Eve) in collaboration with François Uzan (Family Business). The first three episodes were directed by Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, The Dark Crystal).
The series was released on 8 January and, upon hearing its projected reach, lead actor Omar Sy wrote: "70 millions, that's insane!!"
It looks like people are enjoying the series as well. One person shared a conversation with her dad who text her saying: "What the f*** is wrong with you? Why you make me watch a series with only 5 episodes knowing that it's going to end like that? And now I have to wait until the next season comes out."
Someone else said: "Strong recommendation: Lupin on Netflix. Very stylish, slick, Omar Sy is one of the most charismatic people you will see on TV."
A third wrote: "Lupin on @netflix is amazing, the cinematography is very aesthetically pleasing too! Definitely worth a watch! Amazing acting by @OmarSy. 5 episodes and a cliff hanger like that though!"
You can watch the first season of Lupin on Netflix now.
