Many Netflix users are reporting issues with the streaming service, complaining of a bizarre error message that's been interrupting their binging today.

People across the globe have been taking to social media with screenshots of the error notice on Netflix, with many asking others if the service is 'down'.

"Something went wrong," the notice reads.

"Sorry, we're having trouble with your request. You'll find lots to explore on the home page."

While the problem doesn't appear to have affected all users, some have joked they don't know what to do with themselves without any Netflix to binge on.

One Twitter user posted: "Netflix is down. What was in to do with my life again today?"

Someone else wrote: "Is @netflix down? Error code - NSES-500? Anyone else got this issue?"

Some users have suggested that most of the people affected are trying to access Netflix through a browser, as opposed to through the app, with one tweeting: "App's working just fine. The problem's with website ONLY. #netflixdown."

According to outage tracker site DownDetector, there were more than 1,500 reports of issues with Netflix as of 10.41am (GMT).

One person posted on the site: "NSES-500 here too in UK Win10 Pro, Chrome 88 & Chrome 89). Sounds like a broken deployment - I can imagine some sweaty-palmed engineers right now looking to roll back a release and waiting for a telling off!"

Someone else said: "Error Code NSES-500 cannot connect but internet is working fine and I've cleared internet browsing history and cache..."

The Daily Mail reports that almost half (44 percent) of reported issues are related to people having 'no connection', while one in three people having issues cite the primary problem lying with Netflix's website.

On its website, Netflix says of the error code NSES-500: "If you get this error, it usually means that information stored in your browser needs to be refreshed. Follow the steps below to fix the problem."
