A fourth Jumanji film may be on the way in the not-too-distant future, with producer Hiram Garcia saying discussions have been taking place.

Along with the 1995 original, there have been two more recently-released films in the rebooted franchise, with 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and 2019's follow-up Jumanji: The Next Level.

But now another may be on the way, according to Garcia, who is President of Production at Seven Bucks Productions.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Garcia opened up about the prospect of another instalment in the series, saying he and others have been 'discussing it'.

He was asked if there are 'conversations about a fourth Jumanji movie happening, a third overall with Garcia and the gang'.

Garcia simply responded: "100 percent. You know, we're always having conversations, and that's a family, that entire group if there's ever been.

"It's hard to imagine or remember a time I've been on a set where it's just a beloved group of cast and crew and actors and that's just one of those things where we know we have a really big idea that we want to do with it. We've been discussing it."

Garcia also explained what could happen with the narrative of the next film, and how it would follow on from Jumanji: The Next Level, which concluded by seemingly bringing the game back into the real world, with all the animals and other characters thrown into reality.

"There's conversations [that] have been going, we're in the process of moving that along," he said.

"I can't tell you anything, but we do have big plans for it and that's one of our favorite projects to work on and that's cooking away."

The first film was released way back in the 90s and was followed by spin-off flick Zathura: A Space Adventure, before the franchise was given a new lease of life in 2017, with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan starring in the lead roles.

This was followed in 2019 by another movie, which takes place two years after the previous film, with The Rock saying on social media ahead of its release: "The game is not over.

"I hold JUMANJI very close to my heart and I'm beyond grateful you made our movie into the global juggernaut ($1BILLION+) it became.

"Can't wait for you to see what our new adventure & new characters have in store as Christmas comes early.

"And once again, I get to slap @kevinhart4real's lip's into next week. The world is happy."
