A new trailer for the forthcoming sequel to A Quiet Place has just dropped, including a flashback sequence featuring John Krasinski.

The follow-up to the 2018 hit horror flick will see Emily Blunt reprise her role as Evelyn alongside Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, who will be returning as Regan and Marcus, respectively - as well as the new baby.

Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy will also appear in the sequel, as well as Djimon Hounsou - who gave an Oscar-nominated performance in Blood Diamond.

The first full-length trailer dropped earlier this month on New Year's Day, confirming our suspicions that the sequel would be just as tense as its predecessor.

It also promised that we'd be getting a little more insight to the backstory behind the Abbott family's plight, showing the day when the strange creatures first arrived - something that might explain ol' Krasinski in that second trailer, given that his character died at the end of the first film.

The official plot summary from Paramount Pictures explains: "Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence.

"Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realise that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path."

Divulging a little more about the narrative, writer and director Krasinski told Total Film that the sequel will see Blunt's character struggle with the concept of thriving versus surviving.

He said: "I love the idea of the first one, that Emily and I as characters were all about surviving versus the thriving. All [my character] wanted to do was survive.

"And [her character] says, 'That's not enough. We have to thrive. We have to let these kids be whole human beings.' And after I'm gone, I'm loving seeing Emily really battle with that - that maybe survival was the way to go. And maybe this idea of thriving was too dangerous."

A Quiet Place Part II hits cinemas on 20 March 2020.
