Paddington 2 has had its perfect Rotten Tomatoes score tarnished by one negative review, which was added to the site yesterday (28 May).

The 2017 film previously had a 100 percent rating on the review aggregation website, but this has now been knocked down to 99 percent.

A total of 245 of the 246 critic reviews are 'fresh', but now its flawless track record has been ruined by one 'rotten' write-up from Film-Authority.com journalist Eddie Harrison - with a summary for the 2/5 score reading: "The charm is entirely missing from the two Paddington films."

In his review, Harrison explains that he originally reviewed the Paddington 2 for radio when it was released, but that he still agrees with his criticism.

He writes: "I reviewed Paddington 2 negatively for BBC radio on release in 2017, and on multiple occasions after that, and I stand by every word of my criticism.

"This is not my Paddington Bear, but a sinister, malevolent imposter who should be shot into space, or nuked from space at the first opportunity. Over-confident, snide and sullen, this manky-looking bear bears little relation to the classic character, and viewers should be warned; this ain't yo mamma's Paddington bear, and it won't be yours either.

"Maybe if you've never seen the tv show and don't know any better, this'll work, but long-term Paddington fans will find this too much to bear."

Some fans hit back at the scathing review by suggesting Harrison was just an internet troll hoping to rile people up, but with more than 600 reviews dating back decades on the site, he clearly has some authority whether you like it or not.

Funnily enough, a similar fall from grace happened to Citizen Kane recently, when it was surpassed on Rotten Tomatoes by none other than... Paddington 2.

The sudden change came after an 80-year-old negative review on Citizen Kane was discovered and added to the site, bringing its score down from a perfect 100 percent to 99 percent.

At the time of writing, Paddington 2 sits on Rotten Tomatoes' Top 100 Movies of All Time list at number 40.

The top three movies, meanwhile, are 1934's It Happened One Night (99 percent), 2018's Black Panther (96 percent) and 2017's Lady Bird (99 percent).
