Pattinson said he was keen on taking on the role of Batman after hearing that the script focused on a younger version of Bruce Wayne, however, he feared his chances might have been scuppered when rumours began to spread that he was lining himself up for the role before he had even auditioned.
Speaking to Variety, he said: "When that thing leaked, I was f***ing furious. Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing.
"I'd had Batman in my mind for a while. It's such an absurd thing to say. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I'd been prodding Matt [Reeves, who's down to direct the movie]. He didn't accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him.
"When I was a kid, it was the only outfit that I had."
