The Batman trailer has dropped and we've been able to get a glimpse of key characters, specifically The Riddler, who will be the main villain of the movie - and the news has definitely got fans excited. Here's the trailer:

As well as seeing The Riddler, we were properly introduced to Robert Pattinson's Batman and Colin Farrell as Penguin (which people thought was an unrecognisable transformation).

It's fair to say that a lot of the buzz has surrounded Paul Dano as he takes on the role of The Riddler and fans haven't been hiding their feelings.

Taking to Twitter in a mad rush, one person wrote: "BRO THE RIDDLER IS GONNA BE SO F***IN SICK OH MY GOD #TheBatman." Another added: "#TheBatman will seemingly feature 'a version of the Riddler' that is unlike what fans are used to. I can't wait for this. Paul Dano's an awesome actor, he's going to kill it."

A third commented: "Paul Dano as the Riddler is perhaps the most excited I've been for any casting in such a long time. GOD DAMN I'M SO STOKED."

Just to psych fans up a whole lot more, director Matt Reeves also came out and said this version of The Riddler will be like nothing anyone has seen before.

Reeves shared the trailer at DC FanDome, where he took the opportunity to praise 36-year-old Dano's performance, saying that he's going to 'blow people's minds'.

During the panel talk he said: "Paul Dano plays a version of The Riddler that no one has ever seen before. He's such an incredibly creative actor, so what he's doing I think is going to blow peoples' minds."

The Batman is set to hit cinemas in October next year.
