If you're in the market for a film to check out this weekend, how about heading on down to see Marvel's latest effort Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Two Rings? It's out today (3 September) and you can see the trailer below:

Should you wish to get a bit of a read on what to expect before you take the plunge and buy those cinema tickets, you might be interested to learn that most people who have seen it have said that it's absolutely brilliant.

While it's important to make your own opinions, rather than just reading things online, Marvel fans occupy quite a large space on the internet, and therefore there's a decent sample size for that opinion.

Furthermore, from the 210 entries so far on movie review site Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 92 percent 'fresh' rating, and a 99 percent audience score from more than 1,000 ratings.

In case you were wondering, that's good.

One person even wrote: "Just walked out of my 3rd viewing of #ShangChi and I'm blown away once again.

"This movie is one of Marvel's best and the future couldn't be more bright.

"Congratulations to everyone involved in making this masterpiece."

They liked it, then?

Another said: "#ShangChi is top tier Marvel, one of the best solo films and truly so thrilling, fun, refreshing and beautiful.

"It nicely blends styles and cultures to deliver a unique film that feels super special, not to mention Simu Liu is fantastic as Shang-Chi! Go see it!"

So, what can you expect from the film?

The official synopsis doesn't offer much, as it simply states: "Martial-arts master Shang-Chi confronts the past he thought he left behind when he's drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organisation."

However, a bit more digging reveals the titular character - based on the Marvel comic series of the same name - is one of two children of an immortal warrior.

Without giving too much away, Shang-Chi - also known as Shaun - ends up in America, but can't escape his past.

Eventually, it will all tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well, but you don't need to know exactly how before you've seen the movie.

All you need to know is that it's out now, and nearly everybody reckons it's great, so there could be worse ways to spend an afternoon.
