The Must-Watch Movies Available To View On Netflix

Game changer...

We're all familiar with the endless scroll through streaming services, trying to find something to watch while finding yourself defeated by indecision.

This is why lists of 'must-watch' films are an absolute godsend.

Now you no longer have to worry about wasting your evening staring at the Netflix menu, because a brand new list of excellent - but relatively unheralded - movies has been shared. Hopefully there'll be something there that tickles your fancy.

One thing that is worth pointing out is that some of the films being recommended might not be available to you. This is because the streaming service offers different films and TV shows depending on your region.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. They'll probably become available to you at some point.

A post on the Facebook group Netflix Diaries showed a selection of different films with the caption 'THANK ME LATER GOOD NETFLIX MOVIES', and titles including The Keeping Hours, The Disappointments Room and Secret in their Eyes.

Intriguing already, huh?

One of those recommended is Curve, which is most certainly available on UK Netflix and stars Julianne Hough, Teddy Sears and Penelope Mitchell.

It's a horror movie about a bride-to-be who tries to shake off a sadistic hitchhiker by driving her truck off the road in an attempt to kill him. We've all been there.

Admittedly, this one a 5.5/10 rating on IMDb and just 26% on Rotten Tomatoes, so we may have to take their word for it that this is decent. And hey, you're not one to shirk a challenge, are you?

The Rain is also on Netflix.

Another of the titles listed that's available to UK audiences isn't actually a movie - which is surely cheating, but we'll let them off. Instead, The Rain is a Nordic sci-fi series set six years after a rain-borne virus wipes out most of Scandinavia's population.

There are three seasons of the show which fans have said is 'one of the best drama series' out there. And the third series, broadcast in 2020, was the final one - so at least you won't have to commit too much of your life to it.

More promisingly, this has a score of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, so we're all in.

Dismissed is another recommendation on UK Netflix, about an intelligent but intense student who traumatises his high school teacher when he doesn't get the grade he reckons he deserves.

Over on Ready Steady Cut, reviewer Alix Turner wrote: "Dismissed is a very interesting film: it would be a perfectly satisfactory thriller to casually pass the time with, but if you give it a bit more attention than that, the payoff is subtly strong."

Sounds like it's worth a go then.

Nothing to Hide is also available on Netflix.

Another film on the list is Nothing to Hide, which is described as a French comedy drama where old friends attend a dinner party and decide to share every private message that pops up on their phones.

As expected... it's a recipe for disaster. However, it has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 83%, which is pretty damn good.

Then there's Family Blood which is another horror film about a former addict called Ellie (Vinessa Shaw) who moves to a new city for a fresh start with her kids.

Unfortunately new friends, a new job and the chance of a new life can't keep her from slipping... then she meets Christopher. Let's not spoil things here, but... well, vampires happen. You know the drill.

Ultimately, you should be wary that this film has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 8%, which is easily the least convincing of the recommendations here. But hey, give it a try. What's the worst that can happen?
