Phoebe Waller-Bridge Censored For Sweary Speech At Sunday's Critics' Choice Awards

She's received incredible acclaim for her role in writing the show, as well as portraying the titular character.

In fact, she's been celebrating so hard since her win at the Golden Globes last week that she's done her voice in.

Explaining to the gathered crowd at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Waller-Bridge said: "This has been an unbelievable week, topping it off has given me a really sexy voice."

In her speech, she went on to say that the whole awards season buzz surrounding her show has been 'one of the best experiences I've probably ever had working on this show' and spoke about how amusing she finds it that 'a show about a very lonely woman' has landed her 'a load of friends'.

However, we all knew that this wholesome content wasn't going to last forever. She had the behind-the-scenes censors earning their pay seconds later to stop the audience hearing her next line.

She said: "If I ever imagined in a million years I'd get up here..."

The start of that sentence is all that TV audiences would have heard, but it continued: "...getting things like this for writing a character who literally looks at the camera and says 'f*** me up the a**".'"

Yeah, you can't say that in the middle of the afternoon.

She concluded: "So, thank you for getting behind that."

Luckily, this sort of outburst has become something of a trademark for Waller-Bridge, and her fans - and fans of the show - just find it hilarious these days.

One person on Twitter commented: "Phoebe Waller-Bridge just said 'f*** me up the a**', live, in the CW, at what? Is it 5pm PST right now? GIVE HER ANOTHER AWARD."

Anyway, in other news from around the awards ceremony, Joaquin Phoenix took home the best actor gong for his role in Joker, whereas Quentin Tarantino's revisionist Hollywood epic Once Upon a Time...In Hollywood got the nod for best picture.

As it happens, Waller-Bridge's Fleabag took home three awards in total. As well as the best actress in a comedy series gong, Andrew Scott was voted best supporting actor in a comedy series, and the show won best comedy series overall.

Not a bad evening, you'd have to say.
