Plot Details For Ready Player Two Have Been Released
Plot details have been released for the Ready Player One sequel Ready Player Two.
The follow up to the best seller is due to hit shelves later this year, with pre-orders open now, but until now author Ernest Cline has been tight-lipped about the plot.
However, at this week's virtual Comic-Con Wil Wheaton, who did the reading for the Ready Player One audiobook and will be returning for the second, released that he had been sent the synopsis.
According to Digital Spy, the synopsis reads: "An unexpected quest. Two worlds at stake. Are you ready?
"Days after OASIS founder James Halliday's contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything. Hidden within Halliday's vaults, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS more wondrous - and addictive - then even Wade dreamed possible.
"With it comes a new riddle and a new quest, a last Easter egg from Holiday, hinting at a mysterious prize, and an unexpected, impossibly powerful, new and dangerous rival awaits, one who will kill millions to get what he wants. Wade's life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time, the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance."
The first book was turned into a successful movie, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke.

Speaking back in 2017, Cline said that Spielberg had been giving him some feedback for the sequel.
First confirming a second book was on the way, Cline said: "It is true. I can't talk about it too much, but I can tell you there's no better inspiration for a writer returning to a world they've already worked on when they're seeing Steven Spielberg bringing that world to life.
"To get to talk to him and get his input, one of the greatest storytellers of all-time, and a storyteller that had a direct influence on my first novel, Ready Player One.
"Wade carries a grail diary through the whole story to collect his clues about the Easter Egg hunt, and that's because of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It would have been a different story if I had not grown up watching Steven's movies.
"So to get to not only collaborate with him to bring the first story to life but to bounce ideas off of him for the sequel is the most gratifying thing that's ever happened to me in my life."
Ready Player Two will be released in hardback, ebook and audiobook formats on 24 November.
