Power Rangers Reboot In The Works With Creator Of The End Of The F***ing World

Power Rangers Reboot In The Works With Creator Of The End Of The F***ing World

A new Power Rangers film is on the way and fans of the franchise are calling for it to be r-rated.

The movie is set to be created by filmmaker Jonathan Entwistle which puts many of us at ease knowing it's in good hands - because he's the fella that directed Netflix's The End of the F***ing World.

Entwistle is in early negotiations to direct the feature project and he will be working with Paramount Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter who broke the news.

Back in 2017 a remake was released but it didn't do that well after making $142 million worldwide on a budget of around $100m.

Fans have taken to twitter with one writing: "They need to remake it for people who grew up watching Power Rangers. Their reboot two years ago was actually so good!! But they advertised it poorly. If they did an R-rated version for an older audience it would do so much better. Maybe even make it a Netflix exclusive!"

Another suggested: "Just make it a Netflix series and make it R-rated. It will never work as a feature length," while a third commented: "Words can't describe how ridiculous Power Rangers gets and I f**king love it".

Others aren't convinced that the film will do well this time round with one saying that if the rumours are true that it's being released in 2021 or 2022 there will be too much competition.

One said: "They should release the new movie in 2023. Between 2021 and 2022 the cinema will have Marvel and DC eclipsing everything. We also have finals of popular franchises like Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Fast & Furious. Keanu Reeves competing against Keanu Reeves. 2023 is better."

Another agreed: "If they want to avoid box office competition (one of the reasons why the 2017 movie failed), it is best for a 2022 release. We are already getting at least 8 comic book movies, Matrix 4, John Wick 4 and Avatar 2 in 2021. PR won't stand a chance against those."

Only time will tell.
