Pretty Little Liars Is Already Getting A Reboot

Reboots are all the rage at the moment as television and movie producers know that slapping a modern look on an old series or script is a sure-fire way to get the masses in to watch.

However, these reboots are usually reserved for stuff that ended years or even decades ago.

Which is why it's surprising that Pretty Little Liars is being brought back to life despite only ending three years ago.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wants to revive the PLL franchise and keep the good times rolling on.

Warner Bros.

The original series ended in 2016 after a seven season run and audiences were taken on one hell of a journey for a tiny suburban town in Pennsylvania.

Audiences tuned in for every episode to see what Spencer Hastings, Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin and Emily Fields get up to after their mate, Alison DiLaurentis, went missing.

Despite a raft of mild to bad reviews, the series kept on trucking from 2010 to 2016, however their audience numbers fell sharply over those years. The first season kicked off with and average of 2.87 million viewers, however that dropped to 1.11 by the seventh and final season.

The PLL cast came together in May for an epic reunion.

Warner Bros.

Lucy Hale joined Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, Tyler Blackburn, Ian Harding, Shay Mitchell, Janel Parrish and Sasha Pieterse to chat about the show and donated the proceeds to Feeding America.

In the lead up to the reunion Hale told Entertainment Tonight that there has been talk about a potential movie or a spin-off.

She said: "We're in a quarantine that we thought would last a couple weeks. Anything is possible at this point. I don't rule anything out, [but] I feel like we'd need a little more time to pass. I feel like we would get more out of it if we were, like, 10 years down the road."

"I feel like they're gonna do a spinoff or something before then. I don't know. I'm so protective of this show. So I feel like when the time comes that they want to do it with a whole new cast, I might have to produce it because I'm way too protective of it."

Looks like that's come around much quicker than Hale and everyone else thought.

There aren't many more details on the project so we'll have to keep our eyes and ears peeled for more.
