The long-awaited second part of Rick and Morty season four will be landing on E4 on Thursday 7 May, just four days after it premieres in the United States, E4 has confirmed to LADbible.

Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, the Emmy-winning animated comedy series from Adult Swim first debuted in 2013.

Following a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe, over the years the programme has become a cult favourite among viewers - who in the past have been in for a bit of a waiting game when it comes new episodes.

The first half of the cult programme's fourth season didn't air until late 2019, two years after the third concluded. Taglined 'half the season you deserve, all the season we could handle', fans were left desperate for more after the first five episodes aired.

But thankfully it was all just a matter of patience - and the wait is almost over for the second batch of episodes.

Promising to come back 'crazier than ever', fans will finally see the waiting game come to an end as the second instalment of the fourth series hits screens next month.

Rick and Morty will air at 10pm and be followed at 10.30pm on the same night by Warner Bros Animation comedy Harley Quinn.

Karl Warner, Controller of E4 said: "The genius of Rick and Morty is back on E4 and only a few days after the US TX, followed by the brilliant, Harley Quinn, which is voiced by Big Bang's Kaley Cuoco. It's another outrageously funny animation series exclusive on E4 and All4."

In Harley Quinn, which is set in the DC universe, Harley (voiced by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco) has finally broken things off once and for all with the Joker, and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City.

With the help of Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of Doom.

Along with voicing the titular character, Cuoco also serves as an executive producer of the series, alongside Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Dean Lorey and Sam Register.
