The pictures and video footage also meant we got a look at the Batsuit that Robert Pattinson will be stepping into and also the Batcycle.

Up until now, we have only been able to properly see the suit from the shoulders to the mask, but these newly released snaps show Pattinson's stuntman on the bike cruising along.

In them we can see much more of the Caped Crusader's attire and it's certainly getting fans pumped.

One fan with mixed feelings said: "I am so lucky to be from a city that The Batman is going to be filmed in but I am not too sure about Robert Patterson being Batman. #TheBatman #Batman #Glasgow #Scotland #RobertPattinson".

Another added: "Reason no. 13942 to love Scotland & Glasgow. Superhero movies get filmed here & next one is the new #Batman! Glasgow to Gotham.... Royal Infirmary to Arkham Asylum."

Someone else wrote: "The new Batman is filming in Glasgow so it's already got +10 for aesthetic compared to the Nolan films".

Filming began last week when director Matt Reeves gave fans their first look at Robert Pattinson in some dark, red-tinted footage.

It appears that they have stayed true to the imagery of Gotham's dark knight we've all grown to love over the years.

And some fans even thought they clocked Batman himself, with someone who could quite well be Robert Pattinson sitting on a motorcycle - his face conveniently covered by a helmet.

While Pattinson had been rumoured to be the new Batman for some time, it wasn't until May last year that Warner Bros officially confirmed he would, indeed, be taking on the character, following in the footsteps of Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and the aforementioned Affleck.

Pattinson had been keen on the idea for a while, having heard that the script for the film focused on a younger version of Bruce Wayne.

He told Variety: "I'd had Batman in my mind for a while. It's such an absurd thing to say. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I'd been prodding Matt [Reeves, who's down to direct the movie]. He didn't accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him."
