Ryan Reynolds has said that new movie Free Guy is his favourite one he's ever made.

He introduced the new trailer at Comic Con Experience (CCXP) in Brazil this weekend, where he revealed just how much he enjoyed making it.

Speaking to the audience, he said: "We really wanted to bring to the world a modern day Back to the Future for modern generations.

"Free Guy is my favorite movie I've ever made, and that means a lot to me because I made Deadpool."

Free Guy certainly looks like a lot of fun - it sees Reynolds play an office worker called Guy with a mundane job in a bank, who soon starts to realise that he is an NPC. That stands for 'non-player character' and is what the people in games who are essentially computer generated extras are called.

The trailer seems to open with a bit of a dig at Disney, who bought 20th Century Fox earlier this year for over $71 billion.

The intro quips: "From the studio that brought you Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King twice comes a whole new world and a brave new hero."

Directed by Shawn Levy, one of the producers of Stranger Things, the film has definite nods to the likes of The Truman Show. Surrounded by explosions, car accidents and bank heists, Guy slowly realises that these things are not part of everyday life.

When one day, he slips out of his normal upbeat demeanour - for which he says he took influence from Will Ferrell's Buddy The Elf - he takes on a bank robber, and when he puts on his glasses, he realises that he is in fact in the frame.

The movie also sees a Hollywood debut for Killing Eve's Jodie Comer - she plays Molotov Girl, to help him become a hero. The Mandalorian's Taika Waititi plays a villain, who will no doubt make things difficult for the pair.

Other names include Joe Keery, who played Steve in Stranger Things, and Lil Rey Howery (Get Out).

The trailer ends with Reynolds' Guy saying he doesn't just want to be a good guy, he wants to be a 'great guy'.

Comer's character replies: "Well, enjoy your lifetime supply of virginity, off you go!"

Free Guy will be released in the UK on 3 July 2020.
