Actor Sarah Paulson has said she'd be up for returning to American Horror Story, but there's one stipulation: she'd only do so if Evan Peters came back with her.

Paulson started appearing in the anthology series back in 2011, playing different characters over the course of eight seasons.

However, many fans were disappointed to find out that neither Paulson nor Peters would be starring in the ninth instalment - AHS: 1984 - which premiered in September of this year.

Both actors cited their own personal reasons for their absence, with Paulson busy working on other projects and Peters stepping away for his health.

But it sounds like Paulson is up for returning to the popular FX series, as she already feels like she's missing out.

Speaking to TV Guide, Paulson said of season nine: "It's hard to not be a part of it. I would love to [return for Season 10]. I need to be a part of it again."

Explaining what might persuade her to star in another season, Paulson continued: "I would like to do something with Evan. I miss Evan and I miss acting with Evan. So I'd love to have that experience again. If he'll come back, I'm back."

Peters sounds like he could be convinced, too, having told Digital Spy earlier this year: "Never say never."

We also know that with the 10th season possibly being the very last, show creator Ryan Murphy has been reaching out to actors who starred in the early seasons to see if they will come back for one last hurrah.

Murphy told Deadline: "We're working on an idea for season 10 that I think people will love because it's about reuniting fan-favourite actors to come back - because it might be our last season. It's the last season we have contracted."

He continued: "So, I've been quietly reaching out to various people. Some people I haven't reached out to yet because I was like, 'Do I have a role?'

"So far, everybody I reached out to said 'Yes', so that's been great."

Exactly how many actors have been asked is yet to be confirmed, but Murphy did go on to say that it will be characters from the very early days of the show.

Teasing, he added: "I'll just sort of say, the people who helped build this show into what it is, who believed in it from the beginning, have been contacted and are interested. So if you look at the iconography of the first three seasons, you can figure who I've gone to and who might be coming back."
