It's nearly time for school, as Bayside High's finest have given us a sneak preview of what we can expect from the remake of Saved By The Bell.

With stars of the show Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley bringing A.C. Slater and Jesse Spano back to life, the teaser also introduces us to a load of new characters.

In the trailer, Slater asks Jesse: "Remember how much fun high school used to be?"

She replies: "Can you believe that was like 30 years ago?"

In the reboot, Governor of California, Zack Morris (played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar), is in a spot of bother after closing too many high schools for low income kids. He then suggests that the affected students should be sent to the best-performing schools in the state - one of which is Bayside High.

The wave of new students will give the spoiled Bayside kids - who are described as 'sheltered' and 'clueless' in the trailer - a glimpse of reality.

New faces in the halls of Bayside include Josie Totah, Mitchell Hoog, Belmont Cameli, Dexter Darden, Haskiri Velazquez, and Alycia Pascual-Pena.

Slater is now the high school's gym teacher, and he has a run in with two teens who have been in a fight - they happen to be Mac Morris (played by Hoog), the son of Governer Morris and longtime love interest Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen), and Jesse's son, Jamie Spano (Cameli).

Speaking to the kids, Slater says: "When I was in high school, I constantly used to fight with my best friend over a hot girl!"

Turning to Mac he adds: "Oh, it was actually your dad, over your mom!

"Then I just found another girl I really liked and started hooking up with her instead. Oh wait, that was your mom!" he tells Jamie, whose father is as yet unconfirmed.

I think we can see where that one is going...

The show is nearly complete, but with production halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, it's not really known when it might land on new NBC streaming service, Peacock.

Bosses have recently suggested that the series could still drop this year.
