Sex Education season three is back in production after being pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a clip shared by Netflix and on the official Sex Education social media channels, stars of the show could be seen getting themselves ready to leave lockdown and return to filming.

Like so many other shows, scheduled filming dates were put on hold following the Covid-19 outbreak, but it was initially tipped to start recording again last month, with Aimee Lou Wood telling Digital Spy she was hopeful the show could be released early next year.

She told the publication: "It looks like it's on track."

Teasing fans, Wood went on to say she'd already read the first episode and it was 'really, really good', before adding: "I'm desperate to see more.

"I'm so desperate, especially because I feel like the last season left us all in such interesting positions.

"But where the characters could go now is kind of limitless."

As you can imagine, the news that the hit show has resumed filming has been welcomed by fans, as one person wrote: "This is the best news I've heard all year."

That would usually be seen as hyperbole but given how 2020 has gone, it could be accurate.

Another wrote: "Good. Probably the best show that Netflix has produced!"

While a third said: "Ahh! I'm so excited for season three."

Then there was a nicely straightforward piece of enthusiasm from another viewer, who wrote: "Finally something to look forward to! Yay!"

And although we're yet to get the eagerly anticipated third season, the show's creator Laurie Nunn has got high hopes for more seasons in the future.

She told LADbible earlier this year: "I love writing these characters.

"It's such a big ensemble and I think the theme of the show - in terms of it being about sex and relationships - it really just offers up endless story opportunities.

"So I think the show definitely has legs if Netflix are nice enough to let me keep writing it and let Ben [Taylor] keep directing it!"

As yet, the third season doesn't have a release date, but you can catch up with the two previous seasons of Sex Education on Netflix now.
