Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy have ordered a sequel to the box office smash Sonic the Hedgehog.
The new was confirmed by director Jeff Fowler in a tweet which read: "ROUND TWO WITH THE BLUE!!"
The original film, which premiered earlier this year and grossed more than US $300 million around the world, was dogged by several dramas before release.

But it seems like the movie studio is keen to do a follow up, with Variety reporting Jeff Fowler would come back as director and Pat Casey and Josh Miller would write the script.
The sequel is reportedly still in the development stage, meaning it's unclear whether the cast from the first film will return. A production start date also hasn't been set yet.
