It may have been 23 years since Space Jam was released but it's still an all-time favourite and it's on telly today.

The part-animated comedy starring basketball legend Michael Jordan and the entire Warner Bros cartoon crew will start at 3:30pm on ITV2.

This will definitely get us ready for the second instalment of the film which is set to be released on July 16 2021.

It will star LeBron James and the cast started filming in the summer of 2019 with many speculating that the time frame would give everyone a three-month period to wrap things up before NBA training camps open for the 2019-2020 season.

During the NBC All-Star Weekend in Charlotte last February, James said: "I'm gonna be in Space Jam 2. We start filming that this summer."

There have been whispers of a follow-up to the 1996 live-action sports comedy starring Michael Jordan and the Looney Toons crew for yonks now, but finally the sequel seems like more than just a mere pipe dream.

SpringHill Entertainment released a teaser image on Instagram, which showed James' credits in the film along with Ryan Coogler as producer, Terence Nance as director and, of course, the main man himself: Bugs Bunny.

Then LeBron started getting excited, too, building up the hype even more. "The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

"It's so much bigger. I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan [Coogler] did that for a lot of people."

Days ago, 35-year-old LeBron James released the second pair of sneakers that are inspired by the upcoming film.

The 'Tune Squad' shoes feature a furry Swoosh and the red and blue look are reflective of the jersey colours.

Inside the trainer are the words 'What's Up Doc?' printed on the tongue and the sole features the Tune Squad logo.
