A documentary series about the Chicago Bulls and legend Michael Jordan drops on Netflix today.

The Last Dance is a 10-episode series that delves deep into team's final championship run in 1997/98.

It was Jordan's last time in the Chicago red and white jersey and it sure was a memorable one. It was the Bulls' sixth champion in eight season and the second time they had gone back-to-back.

Cameras were allowed unfettered access to the team during that NBA season and it gives us an interesting insight into what Jordan was like with other players.

The series will feature never-before-seen footage from the team during that era, which will be spliced together with recent interviews.

Former bulls centre Will Perdue says in the series: "Everybody knows and has the picture in their mind where we beat Cleveland on that last shot [in the 1989 playoffs' and he [Jordan] is punching the air and he's all excited.

"That's who we knew. The competitive Michael Jordan, the win at all costs Michael Jordan. Sometimes we questioned whether he was human, whether he had feelings. [He was] just a guy who was focused on one thing and one thing only.

"The only emotion we had ever seen out of him was anger or frustration. We were literally stunned to see those emotions [of Jordan crying in the locker room]."

Jordan has already seen the series and is worried about how he'll be perceived when everyone has watched it.

Speaking to The Athletic, the 57-year-old said there are some scenes that don't paint him in a good light.

"When people see this footage I'm not sure they're going to be able to understand why I was so intense, why I did the things I did, why I acted the way I acted, and why I said the things I said," Jordon recalled.

But Jordan shouldn't jump the gun entirely.

It's already getting rave reviews online, with critic aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes listing it as 100 percent.

The Chicago Tribune's Phil Rosenthal wrote: "It's both a perfect diversion and a tribute to shared sacrifice."

CNN's Brian Lowry added: "The Last Dance is an intoxicating trip into the way-back machine. More broadly, though, the project is a thoughtful look at the costs associated with stardom and how they've evolved in the modern sports era, particularly in the NBA."

TV Guide's Liam Mathews said: "The limited series is as complete a portrait of Michael Jordan's extraordinary basketball career as fans will ever get."

Two episodes will land on Netflix today (April 20) and then two will drop every Monday after that.
