Stranger Things' David Harbour Loathed Co-Star Dog So Much He Wanted It Killed Off Show

While actor David Harbour appears to be the type of amiable bloke who could get on with anyone, it turns out he had a terrible relationship with one of his Stranger Things co-stars... the dog.

Harbour, who stars in the popular series as Jim Hopper, hated the Byers' 'f***ing dog' so much that he even joked to producers it should get killed off in the show.

He recalled how the dog that played Chester was such a pain that it would often just 'wander off' while they were in the middle of filming.

During an interview on YouTube series Hot Ones, Harbour said: "I hated that f***ing dog so bad.

"Take after take it would wander off or do something.

"And then I remember the trainer on the sidelines going, 'Come on! We got to make our money!'

"Yeah, I walked up to them, and I was like, 'You know, the Byers should probably have that dog put to sleep next season'."

Fortunately for Harbour, the dog has not been in the show since season one - although we don't know why Chester's Stranger Things gig was so short-lived.

In fact, even Harbour doesn't seem to know, as he added: "We never talk about it the whole rest of the show. We should find it in the Upside Down in one of these future seasons."

The fourth series of the much-loved programme was due to be released at some point this year, but due to delays in filming (Covid, obvs) there's a chance we may have to wait a little longer.

In a note to fans earlier this year, creators The Duffer Brothers wrote: "We're excited to officially announce that production for Stranger Things 4 is now underway - and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper!

"Although it's not all good news for our 'American', Hopper is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, Russia, where he will face dangers both human... and other.

"Meanwhile, back in the States, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long-buried, something that connects everything..."

We also know there will be a number of new characters, with a series of posts from the official Stranger Things Twitter account saying giving the low-down on the newbies.

The first person announced was Irish actor Amybeth McNulty, who will play Vickie, a 'cool, fast talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes'.

Myles Truitt will star as Patrick, a 'Hawkins basketball star who has friends, talent, and a good life... until shocking events send his life spiraling out of control'.

Regina Ting Chen will play Ms. Kelly, 'a popular guidance counselor who cares deeply for her students - especially those struggling the most'.

And last but not least, there is Grace Van Dien aka Chrissy. She is 'Hawkins' High lead cheerleader and the most popular girl in school', but dig a little deeper beneath the seemingly 'perfect surface' and the show's creators have assured fans that they will uncover a 'dark secret'.
