The Disney Channel Has Gone Off Air In The UK Today

Sit yourself down, because there's some bad news that we've got to bring you. The Disney Channel has officially gone from the television in the UK, probably forever.

There it is, a bit of everyone's childhood just died.

To be fair, that happens every single day as you start to get older, so dust yourself down and start getting used to it.

Anyway, if you've been searching the Sky box for Disney Channel UK, Disney XD or - for the slightly more infantile amongst us - Disney Junior, you'll no longer be able to find it, because it simply ain't there.

This is - of course - because the House of Mouse has shifted away towards Disney+ and wants to take £5.99 per month off you for that.

To be fair, the company also offer a £59.999 deal for the whole year, which ain't too shabby.

If you want to watch all of your Disney Channel favourites such as High School Musical, Recess, or The Suite Life of Zack and Cody you're gonna have to bite the bullet and sign up to the subscription service.

It's been coming. In fact, the news was confirmed back in June in a statement that read: "From October 1, Disney+ will become the exclusive home for content from Disney Channel, DisneyXD and Disney Junior in the UK."

The statement continued: "Walt Disney Company remains committed to our kids channels business."

It's worth bearing in mind that this is only in the UK. Some selected territories will still receive the Disney Channel and the others.

What's more, the other channels that Disney owns such as Fox and National Geographic will continue to be available in the UK, with a lot of their programming also available on the aforementioned Disney+ subscription.

The streaming platform features 7,500 episodes and every single Disney film that you could ever want to watch - and some you'll wish you hadn't.

Seriously, does anyone want to watch The Jungle Book 2 again? Not when Muppet Treasure Island - objectively the greatest film of all time - is on there.

Oh, and there's every single episode ever of The Simpsons, too. Admittedly, they could just have seasons one to 13 and that would be even better.

However, after many years bringing after-school joy to children up and down the UK, there'll be no more Disney channel, and children will have to find something else to do with their time.

It'll probably have something to do with YouTube, or slime, or TikTok.
