The latest trailer for Bad Boys For Life has just dropped.

The film, which sees Martin Lawrence and Will Smith reunited as police officers Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey for the third time, will hit cinemas worldwide on January 17 next year.

This latest instalment sees us re-join the action 17 years after Lowrey and Burnett's final outing and it looks as if they'll be taking down a drug cartel, wise-cracking, and generally causing havoc around the good ol' US of A like they never left.

As the trailer commences, it looks as if everything isn't exactly rosy between the two beloved character.

In fact, despite Lowrey's intentions to go on spinning cars at speed and busting criminals until he can't do it any longer, Burnett is having second thoughts.

In fact, is partner wants to quit the game altogether and retire.

Well, we'll have to wait and see whether that holds true, but he is certainly back in the saddle for one big - and potentially last - bust.

That is to say, Lowrey finds himself with a new team and struggling to deal with the adjustment.

Sony Pictures

As ever in this franchise, someone is trying to murder him and the only person who can figure the whole thing out is his trusted partner.

As ever - again - the problem is, he's the last person who wants to do it.

That means that we're in for a whole heap of unfortunate situations, explosions, and shots fired.

Excited? You should be.

Alongside Smith and Lawrence, Joe Pantaliano returns for this latest caper as Captain Howard, and Vanessa Hudgens, Charles Melton, Alexander Ludwig, Jacob Scipio and Paola Nuñez are also going to feature.

As far as the details of the actual plot go, we don't actually have a great deal to work with. The official synopsis for the film given to us by Sony Pictures reads: "The Bad Boys Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are back together for one last ride in the highly anticipated Bad Boys for Life."

Great, that's not much help, although we can - as you've heard - already take a pretty damn good guess at how it is going to turn out.

One last time...
