Fan-favourite dating show First Dates is moving its filming up to Manchester after seven years in London, in a bid to find love for a number of singletons.

Fred Sirieix and his team of chefs, waiters and bar staff will be taking over an unknown restaurant in the city to film around 30 episodes of the Channel 4 programme.

According to the BBC, the show was previously filmed at the Paternoster Chop House in central London since it began in 2013.

Since then we've laughed and cried at the range of people that have appeared on our screens.

The next season will still be filmed in the capital but after that everything will move and the show's production team will base themselves in Channel 4's new hub in Bristol.

Danny Horan, Channel 4's head of factual, told the BBC that the move would be 'so great for Channel 4 Bristol and Manchester'. He added: "We're thrilled to be investing in new diverse talent with Twenty Twenty. This is just one part of Factual's commitment to expand out of London at scale."

Leanne Klein, managing director of production company Twenty Twenty who produce the programme, said viewers could expect 'a few exciting new tweaks' to the format.

She said: "We are very excited to be taking our flagship dating series to the regions. We have already begun tapping into the fantastic local talent pool in Bristol from where we are putting together our new team of casters and date editors."

Madonna Benjamin, commissioning editor for Channel 4, added: "We can't wait to work with Twenty Twenty to continue building on the success of First Dates. The new restaurant location and regional production base provide exciting opportunities for the series."

The MEN reported that the filming will begin on 30 newly-commissioned episodes which will take place at the mystery location.

In previous years, matches that met when they appearing on First Dates have gone on to get engaged, married and a couple have even welcomed a baby.

The show has been so popular that a spin-off show First Dates Hotel was launched in 2017 which saw people travel to hotels in France and Italy.
