The director of Netflix's new superhero flick The Old Guard has said she's up for a sequel, saying there's 'more story to tell' if viewers are keen for another instalment.
The Old Guard is a dark superhero movie about a gang of immortal mercenaries, which writer Greg Rucka adapted from his own comics.
And after it was released on Netflix last week, there's already talk of a follow-up film, with director Gina Prince-Bythewood saying she'd be game.

In an interview with Polygon, she said: "Honestly, it's up to the audience. We'll see how the audience responds to the film.
"Greg Rucka, who wrote the graphic novels and the screenplay, always envisioned the novels as a trilogy, and I know where the story goes, which is pretty great. So if the audience is up for them, there's certainly more story to tell."
When asked if she'd want to direct the sequel if there was one, Prince-Bythewood said she'd loved to take the reins once again, so long as her own scheduling permitted.

She continued: "It really depends on where I am when it's ready for a sequel. I love this story. I love the characters. I love the cast I put together. So I don't know, I love that I created this thing, and I don't know how I'd feel about someone else's hands on it.
"On the flip side, I have my next film lined up, so it would probably be based on schedule more than desire. Because certainly, of course I would want to."
The first film has proven to be an instant hit with viewers, and currently tops Netflix's UK top 10 at #1.

The streaming service's official synopsis reads: "Forever is harder than it looks. Led by a warrior named Andy (Charlize Theron), a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries.
"But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it's up to Andy and Nile (Kiki Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetise their power by any means necessary.
"Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Greg Rucka and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball, Beyond the Lights) The Old Guard is a gritty, grounded, action-packed story that shows living forever is harder than it looks."
