The Princess Bride Will Be Available To Stream On Disney+ On 1 May

The Princess Bride will be streaming on Disney+ from 1 May, meaning that beloved fans will be able to get their hit of the 1987 classic once again.

The relatively new streaming service announced the news on Twitter with the Princess Bride herself (otherwise known as Robin Wright) and Westley (Cary Elwes).

During the 56-second clip, Cary can be heard confessing: "I don't know how to work this device thingy," while Robin butts in imitating her former co-star saying: "I forgot to put my teeth in."

Then the video switches to a message which reads: "We interrupt this important video call for a special announcement."

Cary continues: "If I was stuck in front of my TV, I could think of some real fun things to watch like that Princess Bride movie we made together." Robin asks: "Is that on again?"

Cary then gives us all the vital info. "On Disney+," he says. "Starting May 1st."

After a clip of the classic movie then appears on screen, Robin asks: "Does that mean that we get to take a selfie with Mickey?" Cary responds: "They better say 'as you wish' to that or I want no part of it."

It's clear fans are excited for the film's comeback, with one writing: "Awesome! So many great things on Disney Plus. Worth the money. And #ThePrincessBride, one of my favorites, will be a great addition."

Another added: "I own a digital copy, but I'm all for more access to my favourite movie of all time. The more easily people are able to find it, the more people will know about this classic."

The Princess Bride is an enactment of a book read to a sick boy, who is initially dismissive of the story, by his grandfather.

The fantasy adventure comedy film was directed and co-produced by Rob Reiner and is an adaptation of William Goldman's 1973 novel of the same title.
