The trailer for The Forever Purge is here. Check it out below:

The trailer picks up after the annual purge night has come to an end and murder is illegal once again, but it seems as though one group isn't too keen to stick to the rules and we see plenty of the usual crime and violence the franchise is well-known for.

According to Total Film, the new movie is set after events in The Purge: Election Year and centres on Adela (played by Ana de la Reguera) and Juan (Tenoch Huerta), who flee a drug cartel in Mexico and end up on a ranch in Texas.

However, things go wrong when a group of outlaws decide they want to carry on with the purge after the annual night of legal violence has ended.

Fans are feeling pretty excited after watching the trailer, with one person writing: "Very excited! I really love the Wild West type feel. In my opinion this might be the best yet!"

Another wrote: "This actually looks pretty cool!"

While a third said: "I am very much ready for this."

A source told The Hollywood Reporter this latest offering will see the franchise move away from its 'usual metropolitan setting while still dealing with class and race issues in the way the previous films have'.

The fifth movie in the creepy, dystopian franchise is tipped to be the last, with the creator saying the story is a 'great way to end it all'.

Universal Pictures

Writer and director James DeMonaco spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the fifth movie in 2018, where he said: "I have it in my head. I think I'm going to write it. I think it's a great way to end it all.

"We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I'm very excited.

"When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home."

The four Purge movies so far have pulled in $458 million (£367m) in total at the global box office.

The Forever Purge is set to arrive in UK cinemas on 16 July 2021. It will land in US cinemas on 2 July.
