Tom Hardy's account posted and quickly deleted a photo which appeared to say it was day one of Venom 2.
The actor's account posted two photos on his Instagram account - one of a cute little dog captioned 'first day at work good luck mate' and one of him sat in a chair with a woman behind him and the caption W3'R'V3N0M2 day one'.
But as quick as they popped up, they were deleted. Mysterious.
Although the snaps were quickly deleted, a bunch of eagle-eyed fans had already spotted and taken screen shots which then turned up on social media.
Of course, superhero fans are getting pretty excited already, with one taking to Twitter to post: "Just saw Tom Hardy's post. Venom 2 is coming. Tom Hardy is f****** back."
A second posted: "Tom Hardy posted this on Instagram and then deleted it for some reason. Hyped."
While a third added: "Looks like Venom 2 is starting filming today.
"Kinda weird because asides from the returning stars, I don't recall seeing any new casting announcements. But that aside, I'm really excited for this sequel! Can't wait to see more updates as the production goes forward."
In a further twist, Hardy has then uploaded three more photos - one of which is the same black and white snap of him frowning into the camera, but this time the caption has been removed.
He's also uploaded what looks like a Venom-related illustration, complete with flicking tongue.
And to keep all the dog-lovers happy, an adorable photo of a pooch this time with his work pass. Very cute.
Plot details about the sequel are thin on the ground at the moment, but we do know that Hardy will be back as Eddie Brock, with Sony producer Amy Pascal confirming: "I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can."
