The trailer for a new documentary about the 'world's most dangerous water park' has dropped and it will be released on HBO on 27 August:

Class Action Park tells the story of an infamous water park - called Action Park, funnily enough - which opened in New Jersey back in the 1978 and became popular during the 80s and 90s.

It became popular for many reasons: its frightening slides, questionable health and safety track record and the fact that multiple people died there.

On the very first day it opened, staff at Action Park - which was also dubbed 'Traction Park' - had to rescue around 100 swimmers from its wave pool, with someone in the trailer explaining: "If you couldn't swim well, yikes."

According to the trailer, Action Park combined alcohol with attractions that were deathtraps, including the 360-degree Cannonball Loop slide.

The synopsis for the documentary reads: "Class Action Park is the first-ever feature-length documentary to explore the legend, legacy, and truth behind a place that long ago entered the realm of myth.

"To some, New Jersey's infamous Action Park was the most spectacularly fun amusement park on Earth: A place where unruly 1980s teenagers were given free rein to go gonzo on strange contraptions that seemed to violate the laws of common sense (and perhaps physics).

"To others, it was an ill-conceived death trap. One thing is sure: It's the type of place that will never exist again. Shirking the trappings of nostalgia, the film uses investigative journalism, newly unearthed and never-before-seen documents and recordings, original animations, and interviews with the people who lived it to reveal the true story for the first time."

The documentary claims there was 110 injuries in just one year - including 45 head injuries, with the availability of alcohol on-site credited with contributing to these numbers.

After HBO posted the release date on Twitter, one person wrote: "Omg move over Tiger King. This looks INSAAAAANE cool," another added: "I survived it, went several times as a kid."

Another excited fan commented: "Y'all please watch this s**t, how have I never heard of Action Park?!?! I'm stoked to watch this, holy s**t."

Class Action Park will be available on HBO from 27 August.
