People Are Questioning Why Unaired Harry And Meghan Clips Were Cut From Oprah Winfrey Interview

It seems it wasn't long enough for some

Unless you've been living in a forest the past week, then you should be aware that Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey has been making headlines across the globe.

In the interview, Meghan claimed there were concerns about what colour her baby Archie's skin would be and said she had experienced suicidal thoughts. She also addressed rumours of her rift with Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

However, unaired clips from the interview have now emerged, and despite all the royal revelations in the bumper interview, it's what we didn't originally see which now has some people asking questions.

Responding to a question about whether members of the Royal Family should expect to lose privacy, Meghan replied: "I think everyone has a basic right to privacy. Basic. We're not talking about anything that anybody else wouldn't expect.

"If you're at work and you have a photograph of your child on your desk, and your co-worker says, 'Oh, my gosh, your kid's so cute. That's fantastic! Can I see your phone so I can see all the pictures of your child?' You go, 'No. This is the picture I'm comfortable sharing with you.'

"And then if they double down and say, 'No, but you already showed me that one. So you have to show me everything. You know what, I'm just gonna hire someone to sit in front of your house, or hide in the bushes and take pictures into your backyard, because you've lost your right to privacy ... because you shared one image with me.'"

She continued: "There's no one who's on Instagram or social media that would say, 'Because I shared this one picture, that entitles you to have my entire camera roll. Go ahead and look through it.' No one would want that.

"So it's about boundaries. And it's about respect."

In viral tweets, one man claimed the original cut of the interview wasn't edited in Harry and Meghan's favour, sharing unaired clips which he believed should've been included:

The fact the tweets have amassed more than 40,000 likes shows there was plenty of agreement on this. However, it seems any suspicion surrounding the edit could be misguided.

ITV aired the same version as CBS, and given that the whole interview was more than three hours long, there was always going to be sections that had to be cut.

Indeed, Oprah herself has since opened up about this challenge.

Speaking to CBS This Morning, she said: "In the process of trying to edit this three hours and 20 minutes down to an hour and 25 minutes, I said to my team, 'The most important question to be answered here at the end of this show will be - why did they leave?'"

Some people want the entire interview to be released.

The fact these unaired clips have subsequently been released further suggests that they were cut due to the constraints of TV scheduling, rather than to cover anything up or paint Harry and Meghan in a particular light.

When the interview aired on Monday night on ITV, it was watched by 12.4 million people - which was more than half of people watching TV in the UK at that time.
